Quantity of Titles on Best of Year Booklists on DorothyL

I feel one ought to list however many titles reached one’s top rating in the past year. It’s incorrect to suppose that you need to limit your Best Of Year Booklist to 10 or 15 or 25 because that presupposes that we all read the same number of books. In the year that I did a survey of DL readership, the minimum number of books read was 8 and the maximum 1000. So the number of Best of Year titles would naturally be different for different readers.

In the summary for the year, I will post the average number of titles reported.

There is no difference in the effort for processing 25 titles than for processing 10.

I would like to say that if you lump all the titles by author together into one item, it helps no one, since it will count as one entry only and will not roll up into other titles for that author which have been listed by other people.
